The Internet is changing the way we consumer media.
Blogs maybe so 2004 (personally I disgree), but social media is an emerging opportunity for marketers. The evidence: the BBC is having to play catch up, consumers are influenced by it and a BT study claims businesses are getting in on the act.
Internet TV is taking off in a big way, showing how the Internet has entered the living room. Over 20% of consumers watch TV on the iPlayer for an hour a week, Sky is to offer online-only subscriptions and MGM and Bebo are doing online content deals. Users are clearly more than willing to watch video online.
The digital generation is behind these developing trends. Often choosing web over TV, this advertising resistant, but brand loyal, generation is a sign of things to come. Marketers will need to understand the digital generation if they want to be heard over the noise.
