MySpace has launched an initiative to allow users to 'transport' their profiles across other social sites.

The 'Data Availability' initiative is being supported by Ebay, Photobucket, Twitter and Yahoo!.

MySpace users will be able to update their profile image and interests, such as favourite music and films, from a central MySpace location that will then update across third-party sites.

Through the opt-in initiative Ebay users will be able to take advantage of enhanced profiles, such as MySpace bios and videos. While Yahoo! users will be able to share their MySpace content with contacts from their Yahoo! IM.

Chris DeWolfe, CEO and co-founder of MySpace, said, "The walls around the garden are coming down - the implementation of Data Availability injects a new layer of social activity and creates a more dynamic Internet."
