Primary school children could be taught how to use Twitter and Wikipedia under draft plans to overhaul the curriculum, according to reports.

The draft proposals include studying modern media and learning internet skills, such as blogging, podcasts and social messaging tools including Twitter.

Sir Jim Rose, former Ofsted chief, will present the proposals to ministers next month.

The news comes as new media age last month reported Twitter is a child safety and privacy disaster waiting to happen, according to online safety experts (nma 26 February).

Twitter states users must be 13 or over, but doesn't provide a 'report abuse' button or explicit ways to raise offensive material.
